No this is modeled accurately. The flare mode engages at 50ft and then starts with the flare at around 30-20ft. You can look at the flight director guidance if you want but it's not recommended to use it for manual landings. Your eyes should be outside at that point.

Hello everyone,
Why is the flare in A320 saying to initiate at 50ft? Irl the flare (according to the airbus manual) it says to initiate at 30ft.
But, in Aerofly’s A320, the FCOM is saying to do it at 50ft.
Is it a bug? What you are seeing is 'flare Law' at 50ft the bus stops auto trimming and memories the current pitch, it will reduce the pitch angle as you flare the aircraft below 30ft. Flare mode appears on the PFD at 50ft, as mentioned above, this is the point you switch from the FD's to purely looking outside.

No, the flare law is not indicated to the pilot, FLARE is an autopilot/flight-director mode just like OP CLB or SRS. The fly by wire normal law is not affected by that. They both happen to be active below 50ft but there is no direct relationship.

Ah, strange. I understand that the aircraft starts adjusting the elevator at around 30ft, but my understanding was the FLARE indicated on the PFD at 50ft was an indication that the aircraft was memorizing the pitch (as stated in the FCOM)
So what are the FD's commanding once FLARE mode is engaged? Been many years since I studied this.
Thanks for the info!

If you perform an autoland then the FLARE tells the pilot that the autopilot is currently flaring for landing. If you land manually with flight directors off then there is no FLARE indication at all.

Understood. But it still appears when flying manually FD's on at 50ft, am wondering what the FD's are commanding. I'll bury my head in the fcom for a bit. Thanks for your help.

The flight directors are just showing what the autopilot would be doing right now. That's why many pilots turn them off when they are flying manually, because it could be a distraction. What the flight directors are doing depends on the active mode which happens to be flare during the last 50ft above the runway during an ILS approach. If the autopilot would be engaged at that time it would just do exactly what the flight directors are showing.

Oh I see, I got confused with the toliss showing on 30ft in it’s fcom. (Manual landing)

Same, but I get what IPACS said.
Actually, the A320s flare at 30ft but at first i thought to flare when fcom says to flare.
