Thrust Limits for Airbus

  • 1) Flex Temperature

    I have noticed a problem with the flex temperature on some Airbuses.

    It doesn't matter what flex temperature is set for the IAE engines, it won't affect thrust and the engines will run at full power. That's why the climb rate is sometimes ridiculously high.

    For the A380 is the max. flex temperature 80°. Is this the realworld limitation? On the other Airbuses it is possible to set the flex temperature up to 189° ... Whoever needs these limitations :/^^

    2) Derated function for A380

    For the A380 it is possible to select a derated thrust from a dropdown list. But as soon as I make a choice, the TOGA option is automatically activated.

    Is this feature not implemented or maybe a bug?

  • I too have noticed the derate issue on the A380 as well as the discontinuous EPR rating on the IAE A319. Also, the CFM A321’s CLB detent is around 4-7% too high.
