Hello,
I installed aerofly RC 10 and wanted to run it on VR. Just recently purchased an Acer Nitro 16 with good specs to this purpose (VR gaming with RC models).
Machine spec (laptop)
-AMD Ryzen 7.
-Nvidia RTX 4060.
-16GB ram
-Windows 11.
So this is well within all system requirements (both aerofly RC 10 and oculus). Original high quality Oculus Link cable.
When I play the simulator the plane glitches graphically, like if it twitches… It’s just enough to make the gameplay a rather poor experience. When I enter the airfield on the sim everything looks very good. Tracking is nice, no lagging, everything is fine until you start moving the aircraft. It’s almost like this occurs more frequently the faster the plane moves. So like slow taxiing doesn’t do much of this.
First I ensured that (in windows app graphic preferences) the game, oculus app and steam vr app uses the dedicated NVidia RTX 4060 card, instead of the slower internal AMD graphics card. This changed nothing. I checked Oculus cabled link transfer and it checks out ok. I have tried to disable sound through the VR headset (in both oculus and steam VR settings) since I’ve heard some had the issue because of that. I have tried various ways of starting the game in VR;
One way (in this order):
1. Oculus link, pc app and in headset.
2. Steam VR app.
3. Start game from oculus link (home)
Next try (in this order):
1. Oculus link, pc app and in headset.
2. Steam VR app.
3. Start game from Steam home VR app.
Next try (in this order):
1. Oculus link, pc app and in headset.
2. Steam VR app.
3. Find the game in Steam library and start it in Steam VR mode.
Last try (in this order)
1. Oculus link, pc app and in headset.
2. Steam VR app.
3. Find the game in Steam library and start it in Oculus VR mode.
I have tried the various options regarding vr asynchronous spacewarp using the Oculus debugging tool.
Still the same glitch/twitching of the aircraft as I fly. What is most interesting is that while playing, the twitching happens only in the VR headset, not on the screen (while in VR mode. I could lift the headset a bit and at the same time see smooth motion on the screen, but twitching/glitching in the Oculus Quest 2 headset at the same time.
I have tried to set both Oculus link refresh rate to 120 and 120 in aerofly RC 10. Then even std 72 in oculus app, with limited to 120 in aerofly RC. Vsynch was also tested both with and without….
So nothing of this made the twitching/glitching disappear.
I frankly don’t know what more to do and I see there are people writing that they managed to get a nice and smooth experience. I even installed aerofly RC8 which I had earlier to see if there might be any issues with the 3D engine used in aerofly RC 10. Am I missing something? I have even tried with both USB-C/display ports.
