Airbus A380 not moving during pushback/start

  • Hi, i’ve encountered what I believe is a bug with the Airbus 380. I’m on the latest Aerofly FS4 version for mac.

I’m trying to pushback with the A380 however once I select in the menu ‘push and start’ the tug attaches itself to the plane but the aircraft does not move. The throttle and parking brake are un-movable (stuck) no matter what inputs I give, the throttle or parking brake will not move.

This also goes for the “start with engines on” option when selected from the menu. The aircraft is once again stuck (0 GS as you can see on the ND) despite me applying TOGA as you can see in the image.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

What controller do you use to adjust the throttle? And does this happen on other aircraft as well or just the a380?

As long as the pushback truck is connected the throttle and parking brake inputs are overwritten. After removing the pushback truck with the assigned short cut the controls should be reset back to normal. Is this not the case?

Did you make sure that the parking brake is released and the pushback removed before trying to taxi?

  • Jet-Pack (IPACS),

I’m using the Airbus Thrustmaster TCA throttle and this only happens on the A380 for me.

Basically, after pressing Shift+P, the pushback tug is disconnected and I can then move the throttles and parking brake again (I can see the throttle moving in the cockpit.) However, the airplane is physically stuck, it can’t move despite me applying thrust and releasing the parking brake (this is the situation in the image)

The only workaround is to spawn in Cold and Dark and redo the startup again, and use reverse thrust as an alternative to the pushback.

Did you make sure that the parking brake is released and the pushback removed before trying to taxi?

The thing is, as soon as I press “push and start” and when the tug attaches, I physically cannot move the parking brake, it’s stuck despite me pressing it. Same with keyboard input. So the plane doesn’t move at all.

I will try send a video later today so you can see what is happening

As long as the tug is connected the parking brake is overriden to "off" so it's normal that your keyboard input is not working as long as the pushback is active.

Please double check your control assignments. Perhaps one of the axes of the throttle quadrant is assigned to the wheel brake or parking brake by accident? If you apply full thrust as on the video and the parking brake is still set then there should be a red warning on the central display. But given that no such warning is visible I'm guessing that your wheel brake is active.

In the settings menu go to controls, general, airplane and scroll down to wheel brake. Delete all assignments for the wheel brakes. Then open the + on the left to see the left and right wheel brake inputs. Remove any assigned buttons or axes by clicking on them and pressing the delete key afterwards (when it's highlighted). Repeat the same for the parking brake assignments.

Then test if the airplane starts moving after disconnecting the pushback truck. If it does, then you can go back to the menu and assign your wheel brake and parking brake. If not, then I'm really not sure what's going on because the A380 behaves just like the A320 in terms of pushback, or at least it should.

Ah this worked - I reset the controls and all is fine now.

    Thanks for your help!
