custom camera view like tower view?

  • does anyone know how to add custom camera view for plane spotting near to the runway camera should move along with the plane where ever its flying. i just bought this game from steam and i desperately need this option

  • For this purpose, the TOWER VIEW function can be used, which is entered into the TAP file of an airfield and then converted to the TSC and WAD file. In my view, however, this procedure is only suitable in individual cases.

    Configurations:

    - MacBook Pro (16", 2024); Chip: Apple M4 Max; actual macOS
    - Controllers: | WinWing: URSA MINOR-Fighter-Joystick R | Thrustmaster TCA AIRBUS EDITION: 1x Joystick, 2x Quadrant, 2x Quadrant Add-On | Pro-Flight-Trainer: PUMA X | Logitech: Joystick G Extreme 3D Pro | Steelseries: Nimbus+

    - iPad (12,9", 4th Generation, RAM: 6 GB); actual iOS | Steelseries: Nimbus+

  • I can set it up for you for 1 airfield and also describe to you how you can possibly customise it yourself with a simple text editor.

=> Please send me the desired airfield, the exact position where the camera should be, and also the exact height.

  • thank you so much this will be so helpful for me and TIA. you can do it of your own choice any airport near to the runway at threshold position. once I will get the files I will try to modify files for a specific airfield.

  • I created a TOWER VIEW for the spotter point on the fence RW10 of TNCM Princess Juliana Intl Airport:

The solution is an additional (!) airport, which "only" consists of the TOWER VIEW and a HELIPAD for localization. The helipad must be closer to the TOWER VIEW point than the actual airfield TOWER::)

In the example, the aircraft flying on is first followed by the SPOTTER CAMERA and then by the official TOWER CAMERA, which I find very cool.8)

The ZIP file contains the files TAP, TSC and WAD:

    • The TAP file is only used to create the two other files TSC and WAD with the "aerofly_fs_4_tap_converter"; in FS 4 it is not needed.
    • The TSC and WAD files are the two files required in FS 4.

All three files are in text format and can be changed with an editor. For use elsewhere, only a few data need to be adjusted, which can also be changed directly in the two files TSC and WAD. All three files are designed so that the identical facts are in the same line.

    ATTENTION:
In the WAD file, the positions and direction are stored in a different format than in the other two files TAP and TSC. Therefore, the WAD file also contains the instructions for the conversions.

  • Here is a description of where AIRPORTS are stored in the FS 4 user folder:

  • ApfelFlieger thank you for the files your files are working fine I tried to change the spotter position on TNCM but I was unable to. I just only change spotter position values in .tsc file nothing happened position was same. the wad file is so hard to understand for conversion.

The positions must be adjusted in both the TSC and the WAD. Please write which new positions "lon" and "lat" you want to have and then I will show the two formulas for this again.

  • this position I want spotter position after the PAPI lights.

I choose these coordinates as a spotter location:

    • Files TAP and TSC - line 123:
      <[vector2_float64] [tower_position] [-63.115985 18.039220]> // SPOTTER POSITION

The LONGITUDE is converted like this:

    • 21278.0855751111 = 65536 * ( 0.5 + 0.5 * -63.115985 / 180 )

The LATITUDE is converted like this:

    • 36113.0175796446 = 65536 * ( 0.5 + 0.5 * ( tan(2.3311223704144 * 18.039220 / 180) / 2.3311223704144 ) )

    This then results in:

    • File WAD:
      <[vector2_float64] [tower_position] [21278.0855751111 36113.0175796446]>// SPOTTER POSITION

how to get .tap to .wad file converter? a converter should do the rest of the process.

I will describe this in the next few days in the FAQ in Flight-Sim.org.

In addition, I will also upload a tool with which this can be calculated directly.

  • ApfelFlieger :) I created my first airfield for plane spotting, everything went so smooth, followed your method earlier u told me in this thread for conversion. just only 1 thing is annoying me is the TOWER view of the Airfield. How can I get rid of that view so that spotting view keep following the plane.TYSM

  • Great that it basically works.:)

Now to your wish to hide the actual tower of the airfield from the tower view.:/

For each airport that has a tower as the XREF object, the position of the XREF tower is automatically taken as the position for the tower view. So if there are only compiled TSC and WAD files for an airport, then nothing can be changed. If the files TSC and WAD exist in text form for an airport or the file TAP is available, the position for the tower view can be changed instead.

According to my observations, the tower view always changes to the position that is closer to the plane. Therefore, with a clever choice of the spotter position, it is possible that the tower view always remains with the spotter.

This makes sense, so I will have to bear tower view or I should change the spotter position where it follows the plane for max time avoiding tower view.:)
