Aerofly FS 4 SDK - Now Available

  • We have published the Aircraft Converter and the DR400 example aircraft for Aerofly FS 4:

    Aircraft SDK | Aerofly FS

    Scenery SDK | Aerofly FS

SDK Export Plugins | Aerofly FS

On that page I also described the steps how to get an existing Aerofly FS 2 repaint to work in Aerofly FS 4 as well as an existing aircraft.

Limited time offer for aircraft developers...

If you are the creator of an aircraft that is working in the latest Aerofly FS 2 version that you would like to see in Aerofly FS 4, I have a tool that I can use to programmatically convert the aircraft TMC and TMD files from Aerofly FS 2 format to the new Aerofly FS 4 format. You can also submit multiple aircraft then I can process them relatively quickly.

What you would need to do:

    • Converted your intermediate aircraft files (BMP or PNGs as well as TGI, WAV, etc.) using our Aerofly FS 4 Aircraft Converter (except previews)
    • Pack these converted files and your TGI file into a ZIP or RAR archive (multiple folders for multiple aircraft in the same zip works as well)
    • Write a comment below and I'll contact you via private message. If we already had a private conversation in the forum or e-mail you can get in touch that way as well, no need to comment below.

Then I'll use my tools to convert the TMD and TMC files and will try to fix all tm.log errors for you.

After that there is still some work left for you:

    • Update TMC
    • Add or update cold & dark and before start presets
    • Update copilot.tmc
    • Add the _flaps.tmd and _gear.tmd (if your plane has flaps or gear)
    • Convert everything again to render the previews
    • Upload the aircraft for everyone :)

We have published the Aerofly FS 4 Content Converter as well as a two example points of interest (POI) scenery objects.

    Scenery SDK

You can now create your custom 3D scenery objects for Aerofly FS 4:

    Scenery SDK | Aerofly FS

    Blender Export Plugin

We've also create an export plugin for Blender,

and you can now use Blender for modeling Aerofly FS 4

    aircraft and scenery objects.

SDK Export Plugins | Aerofly FS

  • I was able to successfully convert airport runway etc.

    Two issues so far:

    1. My airport name does not show up on map.

    2. No Orientation option in AFS4 TSC

    <[float64][orientation][270]> does not work.

I noticed the TSC formatting structure is a bit different after running AFS4 Content Converter.
Is there an airport TSC example we can use? Currently SDK only shows Object example.

This is using AC3D with TGI Plugins from AFS2 SDK. Perhaps this is also part of the issue?

ZoSoChile: To create airports, we will provide a separate tool soon. With FS 4 one can now create airports in a more parametric way, e.g. it's not required ( but still possible ) to hand model the airport ground mesh. Rather one specifies shapes and lines with different attributes to create a ground mesh.
The 'orientation' parameter in the tsc is no longer supported, you have to rotate the mesh in your 3D modelling software.

The TGI export plugins of FS 2 still work.

  • I have several objects for LSMP and LSME that could be converted to AF4. Approach me if anyone interested.

  • I use AC3D to create my aircraft. One of the reasons I went down that route rather than blender was that plugins were available for AFS and XP11. Does the fact that you have provided a plugin for Blender above mean that you've dropped support for AC3D? or have you just not got round to doing it yet? I'm using the 64bit version of AC3D now (I mean why wouldn't you if you have a 64 bit operating system and 32 bit no longer seems to be an option anyway) so will that be catered for?

    Matt

  • Does it work with the 64 bit version of AC3D? If so any chance that I could have it soon, as I've been doing some work on my Spitfire and Buffalo (with some assistance from Jan) and at the moment I haven't had to make any changes to the TGI file, but that may soon change.

On another subject.... I'd like to offer this as a suggestion for down the road for a plugin.... one that allows the user to adjust the position of your pilot figures, and corrects the the related bone entries so we can trial and error your pilots into our models. I'll probably end up using a Static pilot figure in my models if I can source some free ones. Its a lot of work to build pilot figures (especially for freeware) even if you're any good at it and I'll be honest I'm not... and you're ones are very good... you're P38 or F4U pilot would look pretty good in my aircraft. I do hate seeing an empty office in the external view :)

Matt, again, the old FS 2 AC3D plugins just work fine and we have supported 64 Bit AC3D for a long time. Again, we will publish the plugins again soon. Attached is a version for AC3D Version 9 for you to try, in case you want to use the latest AC3D version.

  • thanks very much. I may download version 9. The version I have installed at the moment is 8.6.11 so it appears I'm a little behind. Could you post or link to the version of the plugin for my current version... I think I'm still covered by free updates, but not sure and don't want to have to get a paid update just yet. I'm just going to go and check my status.

    Matt

  • Seems the new plugin is fussy about capital letters being used in object names whereas previous versions I've used where not. I had to go in and change all the object names so that for example, LeftWing has become leftwing now. It was that in the TMD anyway but previously it had not mattered.

    Matt

  • Before, on a Mac, it didn't matter if there was a distinction between upper and lower case letters in the directory names. I therefore had to make corrections in the files more often in the past. :(

In the same way, I promote the use of slash instead of backslash "for us Mac users" -- Windows has also been using slash for a long time. 8)
