Cannot initialize controller: Steam RC10 recognizes Interlink-X device, but fails to register control/ switch movement

  • Hi,

RC10 version 10.01.05.09 (20241028) running on Windows 10, does not register stick movement, potentiometer changes, or switch changes, so it is impossible to get through the setup phase of RC10 successfully. Windows recognizes the device, as does RC10, but when presented with the screen that asks for all controls of the Interlink-X to be moved (or switches and potentiometers to be changed), it fails to recognize any changes.

The device works properly with the RealFlight 8 simulator.

Thanks for any suggestions (other than buying RealFlight Evolution :( ) ?

  • Check that the radio is recognized as a joystick under Windows in Devices

  • It is - In order for RealFlight 8 to work, Windows 10 has to recognize the device. See output from joy.cpl, attached.

Aerofly 10 "sees" the device, and invites me to initialize it. The problem is that the program doesn't "see" any stick movements or switch/ potentiometer changes. at the Controller Setup screen. See attachment.

  • if you go to "Advanced" in the "Game Controllers" window (windows), you can see the joysticks moving ?

  • Aha. Nope. At this point, I'm guessing that this Interlink device (an old one) is different enough from the current one(s) that Windows 10 doesn't "see" it properly, in that the device shows up, but the part of W10 that can fetches stick and switch positions, etc. isn't working - and that RealFlight 8 uses some other API to get that information (and thus works properly).

Thanks for your attention to this, even if the result is negative. My actual RC transmitters (both FrSky devices running OpenTx, a QX7 and X9D+) have USB connections, so I'll try those and see how it goes.
