Do the A320neo and 737 MAX share the same engine sounds?
The 737 uses the LEAP 1B, the A320neo uses the LEAP 1A.
The 737 MAX LEAP 1B fan diameter (1.76m) is significantly less than that of the A320neo LEAP 1A (1.98m). In fact the 737 MAX fan diameter is barely larger (only 1.7% larger) then the old CFM56-5B (1.73m) found on the A320ceo. Therefor it needs to spin at higher speeds (N1 4586 RPM vs. 3894 RPM) which changes the sound.

That less diameter for 737 max was due to Ground Clearance . The 787 too has a low ground clearance But, it doesn’t have a sacrificed diameter as you can see in the max.
